Machine learning is used in just about everything. From healthcare to recruiting to finance, companies are harnessing the power of this technology to improve their businesses. Retail giant, Macy’s, is also working to integrate machine learning’s capabilities into their strategy.

Graham Poliner, Macy’s Senior Vice President of Strategy and Analytics, recently visited Georgia Tech’s campus as a part of the Machine Learning Center’s Fall Seminar Series. In his talk, “Practical Applications of Signal Processing and Machine Learning in a Dynamic Retail Environment” Poliner discussed how Macy’s uses machine learning techniques to figure out which products are selling the best, where products should be placed in the store, what products Macy’s should consider purchasing, and more.

To hear what Graham had to say about machine learning’s connection to the retail industry, you can view a recording of the talk here.
