Undergraduates Impact Campus with Deep Learning Talks and Competitions

This past week, The Agency (the undergraduate ML club) was busy throwing a number of events to promote knowledge of Machine Learning and Deep Learning at Georgia Tech.

On Thursday Nov 2, Raphael Gontijo Lopes, the president of the club, presented the first talk in a series entitled “A Deeper Dive into Deep Learning”. In it, advanced concepts in Deep Learning were explored, building off of the knowledge presented in a similar talk last semester (“Deep Learning from A to Z”).

On Thursday Nov 9, Diptodip Deb, the club’s vice-president, gave the second talk: a walkthrough of how to use some of these techniques and solve a problem from scratch using deep learning and TensorFlow.

On Friday Nov 3, the club partnered with The Home Depot to throw a Deep Learning Competition, that attracted undergraduates and PhD students alike. Teams of up to 3 competed to solve and achieve high accuracies on 6 different machine learning challenges, which ranged from image classification to search suggestion prediction.

As always, anyone is welcome at the club: students at any level, educational guest speakers, etc. For more information on how to get involved, check out the club’s website: https://gtagency.github.io.
